New Accounting Office Under Renovation!

The Summer of 2005 will see our firm move to new offices. We will be moving to the former I.O.O.F. Hall (the Odd Fellows)/Claiborne Dry Cleaners building in the downtown Homer Historical District. It's a major project that will more than double our office space with room for future growth and lots of parking. Plus it saves a piece of Homer's architectural heritage.

The search for new offices began a year ago as we began to outgrow our office on West Main Street. We were interested in the I.O.O.F. Hall because of its location and on-site parking capacity. But the building's appearance was pretty dilapidated. Upon inspection, the foundation and walls were found to be in good shape, but much of the wood second floor and the roof structure were highly deteriorated. Overall the project looked do-able.

After much thought and evaluation, a three phase plan was developed to renovate the building. First, the first and second floors would undergo a complete demolition to the bare walls. Then totally new second floor supports and subflooring would be installed. Second, the old built-up wood roof system would be removed and replaced with a new metal roof system. Finally, the first floor would be renovated to become the new home for our offices and the outside of the building would get a face lift.

At this point, we are nearing completion of the third and final phase. We are very pleased with how the project is turning out. And we greatly appreciate the compliments we have received as the project has progressed.

With the project nearly finished, we have begun planning our move to the new office. Right now it looks like the move will may take place beginning Thursday Nov 10, but scheduling in workers to wrap up may push that a few days. But we'll be there soon.
