New Accounting Office Pictures

The search for new offices began in mid-2004.  The firm had clearly outgrown our offices on West Main.  After looking at several options, we settled on the former I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows Hall)/Claiborne Dry Cleaners building at 417 North Main Street in the Homer Historical District.  The foundation and walls were in good condition but most to the wood in the building, including the roof, was highly deteriorated.  These pictures show the demolition of the interior of the building, the replacement of the second floor and roof, and the construction of offices.

Please check back as we will update these pictures regularly.

Front view of the I.O.O.F. Hall/Claiborne Dry Cleaners at 417 North Main. The first floor alone doubles our office capacity. With parking at the side, rear, and on the street, our parking also doubles.

As part of the renovation the building will be sandblasted and an awning added to the front. The upstairs will serve as storage.

Tearing out the walls and second floor offices created mountains of debris.

With the upstairs auditorium and downstairs removed, it is time to take out the upstairs offices.

Safety concerns required supports be placed under the second floor offices while demolition work was done above.

With the old roof removed, a new steel roofing frame is bolted and welded in place.  The steel frame greatly increases the building's strength.

Plumbing has to be relocated to accomodate the new floor plan. The downstairs restroom will be handicap compliant.

August 22 Update:  Installation of electrical wiring, computer lines, plumbing, and air conditioning has begun.  Sheet rock will be hung in the next few days.

September 15 Update:  All internal walls have been finished and are awainting painting.  All inside doors have been hung.  Air conditioning duct work is in place.

October 2 Update:  Exterior painting is completed.  Interior painting is completed pending final touch-ups.  Upstairs windows have been installed.  The drop ceiling frame work and the electrical lights have been installed.  Kitchenette and restroom cabinets have been installed.  Counter tops are being installed today.  Electrical lines are being pulled to the breaker box today, too.  Electricity will be turned on in the next day or two.

October 15 Update:  Electricity was turned on this week and the contractor's construction lights were removed.  The air conditioning system has been turned on.  The flooring people are leveling the floor and will install the flooring next week.  Most of the drop ceiling is in and will be completed next week.  Touch up work continues.  Once the flooring is completed the remainder of the plumbing can be done.

October 24 Update:  The flooring and ceiling are complete.  The plumbing should be completed this week.  Final cleaning and touchup work will be done once the plumbing is finished.

Oct 25 Last Update Before Moving:  These things always take longer than expected.  Scheduling workers to do small amounts of work is difficult so wrapping up may take another week or so.  That will push our move date at least a week.  So while we plan to move the firm on Thursday Nov 10 through Saturday Nov 12, it could be later.  But we'll be there soon and are really looking forward to setting up shop in the new building.
